Clear a filled prompt bar with one button

A new Clear draft button in the prompt bar wipes whatever is sitting in the composer, including anything Chief put there for you.

Highlight part of an answer, pick Improve, and the prompt bar fills with a heading, an instruction, and your quoted text. If you changed your mind, reloading the page was the only way out.

Clear draft button

When the prompt bar has content, a Clear draft button appears with the icons in its top-right corner. Click it and the composer empties, ready for you to type something else.

What goes with it

Clearing the draft also removes the quoted selection attached to your prompt and the note about which suggestion filled it in. Your cursor lands back in the empty bar.

Discarded text stays gone

A cleared draft used to be able to come back the next time you opened the project. Now the saved copy goes too, so what you discard stays discarded. If you cleared the bar while a message was waiting to send offline, that queued message still goes out.

Highlight text and try a selection action without committing to it. One click gets you back to a blank prompt.
