Live Session app v1.0.9: Keep Chief in the menu bar and clear whole batches of summary rows
Chief now stays running in the menu bar after you close the window, with a new Settings window for launch-at-login and quit behavior. Live sessions open cleaner, summary rows can be selected in bulk, and the chat box in transcript view moves out of your way.
Closing Chief used to end passive meeting detection, and tidying a live summary meant clicking every row's icon one at a time. This build changes both, and cleans up several things you were putting up with in a session.
Menu bar and Settings
Pressing Cmd+Q now hides the window and keeps Chief alive in the menu bar, so it still notices when a meeting starts. The first time this happens, a short notice points at the crown in the menu bar so the app doesn't seem to disappear. "Quit Chief" in the menu bar always exits for real.
Chief also registers itself to launch at login the first time it runs, so detection survives a reboot.
Press Cmd+, to open the new Settings window. From there you can turn launch at login on or off, choose whether Cmd+Q quits or backgrounds Chief, pick your theme, and reset the meeting prompts you told Chief never to show again.
Bulk edits in the live summary
Cmd-click adds and removes rows from a selection, and Shift-click picks a contiguous run within a topic. Click the X or + on any selected row and Chief applies set aside or restore to the whole selection at once, then clears it.
A "N selected · Clear" control appears in the toolbar while a selection is active, and Escape clears it. A plain click still expands the row.
Summaries that match the transcript
Summaries called people "Speaker 1" while the transcript labeled them You and Them, so the two panels described the same conversation in different words. Summaries now write "you" and "they", or a real name when someone states one, and the leading speaker word in each bullet carries the transcript's color: gold for you, blue for them.
Panels and the chat box
A live session now opens with the Transcript and Summary panels only. The Chats panel stays out of the way until you start a chat from a transcript highlight or a summary point, at which point Chief opens it so the chat is easy to find again. You can also open it any time from the panel + menu.
Drag the chat box in transcript view by its header to move it off the text you are reading. It stays where you put it as you select new passages, until you reload.
Fixes
A blank panel could appear on the right side of a session and indent the Transcript and Summary panels, and it came back on every launch. Chief now discards those empty areas, and the real panels use the full width.
Chat cards in the Chats panel cut off long answers with no way to read the rest. Hover a card and scroll to read the whole answer inside it, and long titles now truncate instead of wrapping over several lines. Clicking the card still opens the full chat.
The project picker in the start-session modal blended into the description box below it. Filtered results now sit in an outlined container with a gold accent border and separated rows.
Installing this build gets you a Chief that stays on duty between meetings. Open Settings with Cmd+, if you would rather Cmd+Q quit outright.
